Peak #41 – A Peak Titled Peak Hill Is Peak Worth Getting.

A week after failing Pfeifer I thought it best to get out and bag another peak. Now, at the start of the challenge I thought it would be rude to not summit Peak Hill (1,240m). I mean, a peak titled Peak Hill is a peak worth getting right?

The tail-end of the sunrise.

An early start had me driving up the Rakaia valley before the sun was cresting the horizon.

Fortunately, as I began my walk the sun was piercing its rays through the low cloud and foothills. Painting the sky a beautiful tinge of orange, yellow and red. Something photos never give justice with.

Today was short and sharp. A steep climb had me onto of the main ridge then a meandering ridge took me to the top of Peak Hill.

I was greeted with strong westerly winds that were coming straight off the Alps. An ideal way to remind me that layers are necessary and that Winter is well on its way.

A windy and cold Peak.

Photos and food were taken atop the summit soon followed by a swift descent back to the car.

Today was one of those days we’re I spent more time driving than what I did walking!

#41 Peak Hill – 1,240m, 5.6km, 1 hour 53 minutes.

A quick win is always welcome!

Till next time,

Cam.
